Workshop: Getting Set
Everybody knows that high school is not like college, but in this workshop, students actually have the opportunity to prepare for the greater academic and social challenges of higher education. We explore four themes: adjusting to the freedom of the college schedule, negotiating conflicts with roommates, developing a strong relationship with faculty advisors and making dynamic presentations in class and at professional conferences. We develop skill sets for each of these themes through structured activities, role plays and brief homework assignments.
Participants meet for ninety minutes a day, over five consecutive weekdays. During the school year, our sessions take place after dinner. Summer sessions run morning and afternoon. Open to seniors during the school year and to newly minted high school graduates in the summer months.
Cost: $250 per student
Limit: Five students per session.
