Becker Workshops

The workshops pioneered by Becker Academic, LLC, are without peer in college planning. For the 2011-12 season, we offer one workshop for families embarking on the college search and another for students preparing to matriculate at their chosen institutions of higher education.

In the family workshop, participants learn to apply the methods used by social scientists in interpreting culture to the task of maximizing a campus visit.  We identify six components of a vital academic community, and we provide a toolkit of evaluative exercises for "going into the field" of the college campus.

In the student workshop, participants prepare to make the academic and social transiton from high school to college.  We concentrate on developing competency in four skill sets that are essential for success in college.

With dynamic formats and very small sizes, both Becker workshops are tailored to the specific needs and interests of the participants.
